Al Buraimi Crushing plant are producing good quality manufactured sand, which is leading to higher demand, and thereby, optimization of their plants in the highly competitive aggregates business. With restrictions imposed on natural river sand, production of manufactured crushed sand is set to grow on the back of strong demand and in view of its good quality. About 50 percent of the demand is coming from the road construction, followed by other core construction and real estate sectors. With emphasis on creating sustainable projects, demand for quality sand meeting specific grades is also set to rise.
Natural sand has found application in coastal areas in some countries. This sands however have excess chlorides due their deposition in saline water and hence needs treatment before being used. These sands are generally suitable for making concrete for base and sub-base and tests has shown that even reinforced concrete could be made from them. But the construction industry is extremely reluctant to accept it.
Construction aggregate, or simply "aggregate", is a broad category of course to medium grained particulate material used in construction, including sand, gravel, crushed stone, slag, recycled concrete and geosynthetic aggregates. Aggregates are the most mined materials in the world.
